PL: Południca to demon z wierzeń słowiańskich uosabiający udar słoneczny. Powstawały z dusz kobiet, które zginęły w okolicach swojego ślubu i wesela. Ukazywały się pod postacią młodych dziewcząt lub starych kobiet owiniętych w białe płótno i atakowały ludzi w polu, którzy zlekceważyli palące słońce, porywały też dzieci, które niebacznie się tam bawiły. Często zadawały zagadki, od których zależał los ich ofiary.

EN: Poludnitsa (like in PL "południe" 'half-day' or 'midday') (also: Lady Midday / Midday Bride) is a demoness from Slavic mythology. They were made from the souls of women who had died around their wedding and reception. They were showing in the form of adolescent girls or old women wrapped in white linen and would attack people who ignored the scorching sun on a field. They would also kidnap children playing there incautiously. They would often ask riddles which determined the destiny of their victim.
